The Faculty of Social
Welfare offered the first social welfare major in the Honam
area of Korea and has graduated approximately 1,200 alumni
since 1981. The major was expanded into an independent
faculty in 1995 when Hanil was accredited by Korean Ministry
of Education with four specific majors: Social Welfare,
Social Welfare for the Aged, Rehabilitation Welfare, and
Welfare Counseling. The Faculty of Social Welfare has become
especially well-known in Korea for its adoption of the
German Diakonia model and its close ties with social welfare
agencies in both Germany and Switzerland.
Highlights of the Faculty of Social Welfare include the
following:
- Ranked as "superior" in the areas of education results,
education courses, and class work in nationwide assessment
of social welfare majors.
- Visiting practicums in Europe are offered to provide
experience in advanced service systems and programs.
